Diamondbacks, I would like to say that it has been a pleasure coaching this team. There were no expectaions except for me to teach you the fundamentals of basketball. You are not able to learn everything about this game overnight. I stress that you continue to work hard and prepare yourself mentally for next season. Although, my 8th graders are gone, I am looking forward to coaching the returning players Ashleigh, Maria, Alaina, Jewels, Samantha, Lisa and Nikki. Lisa Courtney you better be back on this team and if you decide not to play, you and I are going to have a serious problem! We collapsed mentally and lost a few games at the end but you girls finished the way we began- STRONG.
We ended the season tied for 3rd - Great accomplishment.

This is our rescheduled game from last Thursday- Be ready to play Girls.
7:00-7:15 be in the gym for shoot around.

Diamondbacks, our game tonight against Logan will be rescheduled at later date. I apologize to Logan (Campbell), our referees, parents and my girls for the late cancellation. Our next game is Thursday, 6:15@ Kingsway HS South against Woodbury H. Stay focused girls and lets take our frustration out on our next opponent. Remember basketball is only a game but school is not- therefore, homework and study time is a crucial part of your success in school and on the court.
I will post any changes to our schedule as well as practice times.

Pressure Defense..

Congrats to Logan and staff on an awesome game on Saturday. I must say this was one of the best games our teaam has played all year. We were down 13-2 at the half and composed ourselves to play the best 2nd half of basketball all year. Although we lost 21-19, we had a chance to tie or win the game which is always a good sign. Girls, you were simply awesome and it totally overshadowed that horrific 1st half of the game. The cheering support from the Diamondbacks parents was an excitement in itself. Now, lets keep that intensity and take the remaining games in order to finish the season on a high note. Great job Diamondbacks!!

Practice schedule is not out as of today. The make-up game against Clearview has been rescheduled: March 3rd, Clearview HS old gym @ 7:30

Finally, we have our offense back........

Diamondback's, we are playing Logan on Sat @1:15, Logan Elementary Gym as scheduled. I know we are a little rusty but remember we have 4 QTR's to get back on track. We are 6-3 with 5 games remaining. Our goal is to end the season the way we started. See you girls tomorrow @1:00.

Good game to Swedesboro and staff. Diamondbacks, we looked awful- no one wanted to play and that's been our problem for the past 4 games. We are 1-3 in those games which is not our team at all. You need to decide if the season is over- I thought we had 5 games remaining but I will check the schedule to make sure. Girls, enough of the lack of focus and concentration- lets go get the last 5 games and put and end to this so-called losing streak. Oh by the way, no practice on Friday due to the dance. Maybe that was our problem tonite- you were thinking about tomorrow night dance and what you and your buddies are going to wear. On the other hand, Swedesboro had their dance tonite at Kingsway High South Gym and it started @ 6:15. Diamondbacks, were any of you invited because you did not show up. Girls, we are not the NY Giants, 5-0 start and went down from there- we are better than that.

Diamondbacks we have 6 games remaining so stay focused on the task at hand. During Sat practice, each of you were given a chance to acknowledge what went wrong against O.V . Again, it's a team loss and that mean I am to blame as well. It's my duty as a coach to insure that each of you are focused and ready to play at all times- and like you, I knew we had the game in the bag. Girls, it will not happen again. Diamondbacks, You do what your suppose to do and I will get back to coaching.
Finally, we are going to dedicate our last 6 games to our 8th grade teammates.

Congrats to Oak Valley and staff on a superb comeback to beat the Daiamondbacks 14-11. Girls, I must say this is the worst second half of any game. We totally lost our focus and handed the game to O. V. Leading 11-2 late midway through 3rd qtr, several of you stop playing defense and began taking shots you normally don't shoot. This is totally out of character from the DB''s. Defense, Defense, Defense is what made you girls such an awesome team.

I would like to say "thanks for a great game to Coach Dare and Harrison". We managed to squeeze out a defensive victory and limited our turnovers in the process. Again, Defense win ball games and ours is one of the best in the league. Girls, we need to continue to work on the fundamentals of the game. When you have the ball in your hands, that does not mean you shoot every chance you get. The second half was our best offensive scheme as of late. Great game to Maria B, she led our team in scoring and had several steals to key our victory. Although, we had several players that could have been awarded the game ball, it was presented to Samantha C. A player who answered the call when we needed big plays on both ends of the court. Sam is our floor general. She is constantly fighting for loose balls and never gives up on any play. Sam had 2 points and 3 rebounds and forced several tie-ups which gave us the ball. This is the type of player that is an asset on any team. Tomorrow it's Oak Valley.

Girls, our practice for Wednesday 27th @ 7:30-9:00 has been changed to 6:00 -7:15. Don't forget we play Harrison on Thursday and Oak Valley on Friday.

Food For Thought!

"We play to win the game"

I would like to say congrats to Woodbury heights on a hard fought game. We could only produce 10 points and the lowest total all season. Diamondbacks, we did not shoot well at all and this need to be corrected. Our defense kept us in the game with oppotunities to win but offense decided to take a break (19 turnovers). That game is behind us and we need to focus on our next opponent. Monday practice will feature a new offensive set in order to free up our post players. Let's keep our heads up and maintain focus. Diamondbacks we are 5-1 so be proud and continue to move forward.

No game ball...

I would like to thank Coach Ross and team for a great game tonight. Diamondbacks, our defense was much better than on Sunday. We did not over play our man and we hit the boards with force. Alaina B. and Breanna P. played their best game to date while Maria B. led both ends of the court with hard-nosed defense and patient offense. Let's take this attitude into Sunday's game against Woodbury Heights. They may be our toughest opponent this season but we will continue to play our game and maintain focus. Good job to you all Diamondbacks.

I would like to say that I am really proud of our team and the mental toughness you all bring to every game. The first four games has been tough but we have prevailed in each. We will begin to step up our play on both ends of the court. Our defense needs to improve and we accomplish this by moving our feet, getting into the passing lane and blocking out. Diamondbacks, defense win ballgames which proved to be true on Sunday (great 4th qtr comeback) but we also need consistency on offense. Our next two games will be Pittman and Woodbury Heights- we will be focused.
